Colour & Cutting

Colour & Cutting

Working with what you already have and enhancing it, rather than fighting against it. Every decision is about how the colour, cut and any systems or extensions can support how you want to look and feel.

Colour can make your hair stand out or quietly blend in. The right choice depends on you, your lifestyle and your confidence – not a trend.

A realistic, respectful approach to hair

At Find You Hair, colour and cutting are built around your real situation – fine hair, hair loss, systems, wigs, mesh integrations, extensions or just your own hair that needs shape. The aim is simple to work with what you already have and use colour and cutting as tools to enhance it in a believable way.

We do not chase extreme transformations at any cost. Instead, we use considered, layered changes over time so your hair, your scalp and your pieces stay as healthy and strong as possible.

Colour that complements, not competes

Colour is there to support everything else – your skin tone, your cut, your hairline and the way you like to present yourself. Sometimes that means using colour to make the hair stand out. Sometimes it means making it blend in so everything feels softer and more seamless.

If you want your hair to stand out, we can place lighter or brighter shades where they catch the light, frame your face and make the hair feel more visible and expressive. If you prefer your hair to blend in, colour can be used to soften contrasts between your own hair and any systems, wigs or extensions so joins are less obvious and the result feels more “quiet luxury” than high drama.

Rather than relying on one big bleach session, we focus on refinements – brightening, deepening, toning, balancing and glossing – so the hair looks intentional and healthy, not over-processed.

Professional colour for fragile hair

Fine hair, thinning hair and sensitive scalps need extra respect. The priority is to protect what you already have, not to push it to breaking point for the sake of a shade on a colour chart.

For clients with fragile hair or a history of sensitivity, I work with modern professional colour systems that are formulated to be kinder to the hair structure and reduce the risk of allergic reactions compared to older-style high-ammonia colours. This includes options such as Koleston Perfect ME+ and similar professional ranges that are designed with sensitivity and hair condition in mind.

The goal is simple controlled, predictable colour with as little stress as possible on your hair and scalp. Often this means building your ideal shade gradually rather than in one aggressive sitting.

What we can work on together

Colour Enhancements

Subtle brightening, soft lowlights, root shadows, toners and glosses designed to either make the hair stand out more or blend in more smoothly, depending on what you want.

Cutting & Shaping

Precision cutting for natural hair, systems, wigs, toppers, mesh integrations and extensions to link everything together so it moves as one and looks intentional from every angle.

Repairs & Refresh

Repairing and refreshing pieces and extensions where possible so you get the most out of what you already own before replacing it.

Exact services and times are decided in consultation. You do not need to know the technical names in advance – that is my job.

Colouring extensions, wigs and systems

Colouring extensions, wigs, systems and pieces is more time-consuming and detailed than colouring natural hair, but the main advantage is that most of this work can be done off the scalp. That means no colour sitting directly on your skin, which is especially helpful if you have sensitivities, allergies or medical hair loss.

Every piece is assessed carefully before colour is applied. The base, hair type and existing colour history all matter. In many cases, the best results come from gentle changes – toning, deepening, balancing and glossing – rather than trying to lift the hair too light and risking dryness, shedding or damage to the knots and base.

Extensions can often be toned, darkened or refreshed to better match your natural hair or updated colour. Where a much lighter result is wanted, it is sometimes safer and more cost-effective to create new hair rather than forcing old hair to do more than it was designed for.

Cutting that ties everything together

A good cut is what makes everything feel finished. It is not just about taking length off, but shaping your hair so it sits properly, moves with you and works with your growth patterns and density.

Cutting can be used to blend your own hair into a system, wig, topper or extensions so there are no harsh steps or obvious lines. Soft face-framing, tailored layers and small adjustments around the hairline can make a big difference to how natural everything looks.

You will always be shown simple ways to style your hair at home. The goal is not a look that only works in the chair, but something you can realistically manage day to day.

Patch testing and colour safety

If any colour is going to touch your skin or scalp, a patch test is required at least 48 hours before your appointment. This is non-negotiable and is in place to protect you.

Patch tests are needed if you are a new client, if it has been more than six months since your last colour with me, or if you have had any health changes, new medications or previous reactions since your last visit.

If you already know you are sensitive or anxious about colour, this can be discussed in detail during your consultation so we can choose the most appropriate products, methods and placement.

Colour and cutting are there to support you, not overwhelm you – enhancing what you have, protecting what you need to keep, and helping your hair and any pieces work together in a way that feels like you.

Maintaining and restoring wigs, systems & toppers

Wigs, toppers, mesh integrations and men’s systems naturally show signs of wear over time. Instead of replacing the entire piece immediately, many elements can be repaired or restored to extend its lifespan and keep it looking natural.

Lace and mesh reinforcement

Lace and mesh bases soften and stretch with regular wear. Small tears or weak points can often be reinforced to keep the base secure and comfortable without affecting how it looks.

Knot tightening and re-knotting

Knots fade, shed or loosen—especially around partings and hairlines. These areas can often be strengthened or re-knotted (ventilated) to restore density and make the structure look fresh again.

Adding hair to thinning areas

If certain areas of a piece have thinned, additional hair can sometimes be added into the base to bring back fullness, balance the shape and increase longevity.

Clip replacement and attachment adjustments

Clips can loosen, pull or become uncomfortable over time. They can be replaced, repositioned or upgraded to softer alternatives—especially important for sensitive scalps.

Base cleaning and adhesive removal

Adhesive buildup on lace or poly bases requires professional cleaning to prevent damage. A deep clean protects the base and keeps future applications secure and comfortable.

When repair is not recommended

Some pieces reach a point where repairing them may do more harm than good. During consultation, you’ll be given honest advice on whether repair, restoration or replacement offers better value and a healthier long-term result.

The goal is always to maximise the life of the pieces you already own and maintain them safely, rather than replacing them before it’s necessary.

Women’s Hair Solutions

Every woman’s experience with hair loss is different, which is why we focus on personalised, bespoke solutions rather than a single standard option. Before choosing a style or colour, we begin with a private consultation — online or in person — to understand your hair loss pattern, lifestyle and the level of maintenance you’re comfortable with. This ensures you’re matched with the right type of wig, topper or hair system from the start.

Hair loss can happen for many reasons: alopecia in all its forms, chemotherapy, hormonal changes, trichotillomania, medical treatments, stress-related thinning or simply wanting more volume. We also work closely with trans clients who want a natural, feminine look that feels authentic. Because these needs vary, each solution is tailored to the individual — never generic, never one-size-fits-all.

There are many options depending on your level of coverage: medical wigs, chemo-friendly wigs, lace-top and silk-top designs, hair toppers, partial pieces, mesh integration systems, extensions and custom pieces for specific areas. Each one has its own advantages and its own attachment methods, whether that’s tapes, soft bonding, micro-beads, clips or non-adhesive medical caps for sensitive scalps.

Your consultation helps us determine whether you need a lightweight topper for the parting, a full alopecia or medical wig, a mesh integration system for larger areas, or a combination of approaches tailored to the affected zones. We also consider your routine — gym sessions, sweating, outdoor work, humidity, heat styling and scalp sensitivity — because lifestyle plays a major role in choosing the right female hair replacement solution and the type of maintenance that will suit you long term.

It’s a calm, informative process designed to give you clarity. Whether you’re local to Manchester or travelling from across the UK, the goal is the same: to help you find a piece that feels comfortable, looks natural and supports your confidence without pressure or unrealistic promises.
